Could aligners suit you?
Tap what you'd like to change and we'll take you to the booking form with it filled in.
Some bites are better treated with fixed braces or by an orthodontist. Your x-rays and scan decide, not a photo, and we'll tell you if you'd be better off elsewhere.
Which of these looks like your teeth?
Most people who ask about aligners recognise one or two of these.
Overbite
When you bite together, the upper front teeth cover too much of the lower front teeth. In a deep overbite the lower teeth can bite into the gum behind them.
Underbite
The lower front teeth sit in front of the upper front teeth when you bite, usually because the lower jaw sits further forward.
Open bite
The back teeth meet but the front teeth don’t, leaving a gap that can make biting into food harder.
Crossbite
Some upper teeth bite inside the lower teeth instead of just outside them. It can affect one tooth or a group.
Crowding
There isn’t enough room along the arch, so teeth overlap, turn or sit out of line. Crowded teeth are also harder to clean.
Spacing
Gaps between teeth. Food can catch in them, and some people would rather close them than live with them.
Protruding front teeth
The upper front teeth sit well forward of the lower teeth, which leaves them more exposed to knocks.
Teeth that moved after braces
Teeth that have drifted since earlier orthodontic treatment, often after retainers stopped being worn.

Things to know before you start
- Results depend on wearing your trays 20 to 22 hours a day. Take them out only to eat and to clean your teeth.
- Mild pressure or soreness is common for a day or two with each new tray.
- Some cases need refinements (extra trays), and some need fixed braces instead.
- Without retainers, teeth move back.
- Treatment generally takes 3 to 12 months, but your own timeline depends on your teeth and how consistently you wear the trays.

Common questions
Is the discovery session free?
Yes. It's a free, no-obligation chat with our patient coordinator about what you'd like to change, your options, typical treatment times and the likely price range. It isn't an examination, so there are no x-rays, scans or treatment on the day. If you'd like to go ahead, the clinical assessment with Dr Fatima is a separate, paid appointment.
How long does treatment take?
Generally 3 to 12 months, depending on how much your teeth need to move and how consistently you wear your aligners. You get an estimate for your own case in your written plan.
Are you an orthodontist?
No. Dr Fatima Kurnaz is a general dentist who provides clear aligner treatment. If your case would be better treated by a specialist orthodontist, she'll tell you and refer you.
Which aligners do you use?
We don't name product brands on our website. Dr Fatima will explain the system she uses, and why, at your assessment.
Are retainers included?
Yes. Retainers and teeth whitening are both included in the treatment fee.
Will my health fund cover clear aligners?
Some extras policies include orthodontic cover, often with separate limits and waiting periods. Your written plan lists the item numbers so you can check with your fund, and we claim on the spot through HICAPS.
