Who is Dr Fatima Kurnaz?
Dr Fatima Kurnaz is the principal dentist and founder of Y3 Smiles Dental. She holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Melbourne and is registered with AHPRA (DEN0001925511). Dr Fatima Kurnaz is a member of the Australian Dental Association. After graduating in 2014 she worked in the Northern Territory, including as Senior Dentist and Clinical Manager at the special needs dental clinic at Royal Darwin Hospital, before returning to Melbourne in 2019. She grew up in Broadmeadows.
She sees adults, children and families for check-ups, fillings, root canal treatment, extractions and crowns, and has a particular interest in clear aligners, veneers and smile makeovers. She speaks Turkish and English.
How do I ask for a female dentist?

In the booking form, write "Dr Fatima" in the message. Or call (03) 9022 4442 and ask for her.

We arrange your appointment with her. Her days are sometimes busy, so if the time you want isn't free, we'll offer the next time she's available.

What if I'd like a check-up and clean with a woman?
Our oral health therapist, Ranim Ktaifan, is also a woman. She provides check-ups, cleans and preventive care, and speaks English and Arabic. You can ask for either Dr Fatima or Ranim when you book. See our team for their registration details.
Why do people ask for a female dentist?
People have their own reasons: personal or cultural preference, feeling more at ease, or a past experience that made the dentist hard. Whatever the reason, you don't need to explain it. Asking is enough.
